Exercises That Burn The Most Calories

Sometimes it is helpful to know what you can do that will help you to burn the most calories. These numbers are based on a 150 pound person exercising for 30 minutes. There is no way to give an exact number since it is based on your weight, your fat and muscle content, as well as how hard you are working at the exercise.

Running.
Running is great exercise. You need to be careful doing it and how fast you go will have a lot to do with how many calories that you will burn. Going at 10 mph (that’s pretty fast) you will burn about 565 calories. Going at 7.5 mph you will burn 435 calories. Going 5 mph will let you burn 275 calories and jogging will burn about 250 calories. Remember that these numbers are for 30 minutes of activity.

Step Aerobics.
Step aerobics is popular among women. You can take a class at the local gym or buy the equipment and a DVD to do it at home. Either way 30 minutes of exercise burns about 400 calories.

Swimming.
Swimming is great exercise for the whole body. It is also good for burning calories. Most swimmers burn about 400 calories in 30 minutes of swimming. Just remember that this is active swimming.

Bicycling.
Bicycling is a lot harder to measure the amount of calories burned. However, if you are doing a slow pace then you will burn about 250 calories every 30 minutes. On the other hand if you are working very intensely then you will burn about 500 calories every 30 minutes.

Racquetball.
If you have someone to play with racquetball can be great exercise. You will burn about 400 calories every 30 minutes.

Rock Climbing.
While many people don’t think of rock climbing as a great way to burn calories, it does do a pretty good job. You will burn about 380 calories every 30 minutes. Plus you will gain muscle.

Elliptical Trainer.
This machine is a newer one that combines the movements of other machines. You will burn about 300 calories for every 30 minutes.

Jumping Rope.
Common in movies, you don’t see as many people jumping rope outside their homes as you do in the gyms of movies. However, jumping rope is a great form of cardiovascular workout. Plus it isn’t very expensive since you just need a jump rope. It will burn about 325 calories per 30 minutes.

Walking.
Walking isn’t your fastest calorie burning option. However, it is easy to do, anyone can do it, it is always free, and you do burn calories. Walking will burn about 180-200 calories for every 30 minutes.

By having an idea which activities are likely to help you burn more calories you can choose which options you want to use for your weight loss. Often using more then one is a good idea because you are less likely to get bored. Plus some of them are very enjoyable activities.
