Estrogen
Unfair as it may seem to women, research has shown that men generally lose weight faster than women. This can be attributed to several factors some of which are outlined below. One of the reasons is biological predisposition. Women’s bodies have higher levels of hormones known as estrogen. The hormone is essential in helping fats to accumulate in their bodies especially during pregnancy. Men on the other have lower levels of the hormone making it easier for them to lose weight.

Susceptibility to Exercise
Men’s bodies are more susceptible to exercise. Unlike women whose bodies go into a dormant mode during exercise, men’s bodies respond well to exercise making them lose weight faster as compared to women. Men have greater zeal and more determination towards exercise than women. Research has shown that men have a more positive outlook towards exercise than women. This allows them to hang onto the rigorous activities that are usually involved in exercises.

Higher Lung Capacity
Since the lung capacity of men is generally higher than that of women, men have the tendency of feeling at ease during hard exercises compared to women. This makes them burn more fat and lose more weight. The other reason why men lose more weight than women is that the two sexes have different eating habits. Men generally prefer proteins while women tend to prefer carbohydrates instead. It is carbohydrates that are usually metabolized and converted to fats leading to weight gain.

Testosterone
The other reason why men lose weight as soon as they start weight loss diets and programs is that men generally have higher levels of hormones known as testosterone. Testosterone is a hormone that is usually responsible for large muscles and lower amounts of fats which work in favor of ensuring that they store less amounts of fats in their bodies. Men lose weight faster compared to women because of their physical structures.

Physique
Research has shown that women have an apple shaped body structure which allows their weights to settle in their mid sections and just beneath the areas located beneath their belts. On the other hand, men have a “pear shaped” figure which allows fats to be deposited only in their middle sections. This makes them lose weight faster than women.

Bad Eating Habits
Funny as it may sound, the other reason why men seem to lose weight faster than women is the fact that women are generally more active in the kitchen compared to men. They are also the ones that are usually more actively involved in planning and organizing parties, events, birthdays and dinners. Unfortunately, this makes women more predisposed to bad eating habits that are associated with weight gain.

Keep Issues in Perspective
Men seem to lose weight faster than women because they know how to keep weight gain issues in perspective. Men have a natural tendency of trying to fix things. This includes things such as health. When a man notices a slight increase in weight, he will usually take fast steps to correct it. On the other hand, women tend to wait until when the problem is already out of hand before they can choose to do something.
