How Fast Should I Lose Weight?
Most of us want to lose some weight and then there are those that want to lose a lot of weight. We watch the headlines and shows such as “The Biggest Loser” and we want to lose weight fast and today. However, for most of us we won’t have the option of going on “The Biggest Loser” and it is important that we don’t lose weight that fast.
Looking At Weight Loss.
Weight loss isn’t easy. If it was then there wouldn’t be people who struggle with it. Instead it is hard and there is no quick fix, magic pill, super diet, or miracle five minute workout. Because so many people are looking for these types of things there is a whole industry that makes money off of people desperate for easy weight loss. But if you want to keep it off it will take work.
Yo Yo Loss and Gain.
Many people work really hard following some program that is guaranteed to make weight loss easy. They lose the weight and then gain it back plus a few extra pounds. This is normal and it has to do with the fact that these quick fixes don’t solve the problems.
1 to 2 Pounds a Week.
Most experts recommend that you lose 1 to 2 pounds a week and not more then that. Slow and steady weight loss is something you are much more likely to keep off then quick fixes and large losses.
I Heard I Can Lose 30 Pounds In Two Weeks!
There are a lot of headlines or labels with bold print that shout out things like, “Lose 30 Pounds In Two Weeks!” and “One Rule To Losing 20 Pounds of Belly Fat By Next Month”. Truth of the matter is that few of these things actually work and if they do work they are quick fixes. The weight comes back and often with additional pounds.
Stop Thinking Quick and Easy.
There is a saying that says, “You get what you pay for”. Well the same concept can be used for weight loss. You get what you work for. There isn’t a quick and easy fix. The sooner we move on from that idea the sooner we can get to losing weight.
Lifestyle Changes.
In order to lose weight slowly, steadily, and forever you need to work on lifestyle changes. These should include better eating habits, smaller portions, wiser food choices, moving more, and exercising regularly.
Looking to Sustain Weight Loss.
It shouldn’t be enough to lose weight for today. You should seek to lose weight and keep it off. This is healthier and it will keep you from the vicious cycle of losing weight, trying to keep it off, gaining it back anyway, and then starting all over.
Slow weight lose isn’t what most people want, but it is what most people should do. It will be easier to keep off and easier to live a healthy life. A healthy life produces a healthy you.
