How to Lose Weight Like a Man

| March 4, 2010 | 0 Comments

Isn’t it frustrating how men can typically lose weight much easier than women can? Well, it’s certainly frustrating to the women! Seeing men just pretty much melt away while you struggle to lose just a few pounds can make a woman wonder just what their secret might be, and better yet, how you can duplicate their success! Shedding a few pounds is really not very easy for anyone, since the habits that cause those pounds to be gained are tough to break. But you can lose quicker if you understand just why it’s typically easier for a man.

More Muscles for Men

One reason for this is that men usually have more muscle tone than women. The body needs to work harder to feed muscles than it does fat or other elements. So when someone is more muscular, they’re actually burning more calories every minute! Knowing this will help you to lose like a man.

For a woman to do this, she can think about how to increase her muscle tone. No, you don’t need to be a bodybuilder or look like one to be successful. This simply means firming up your muscles through simple resistance and strength training exercises. Here are some easy ways to do that.

First, consider a few simple Pilates movements to help you lose weight. With Pilates, you use the body’s own weight for resistance. This routine also helps you to build up the muscles in your core, which is your midsection. You also improve muscle tone in your legs and arms as well.

Second, use some resistance training to help. Again, you don’t need to be a bodybuilder to do this. Just lift some weights a few times a week, enough so that you’re challenged:

  • Do some arm curls a few times per week.
  • Try some light bench presses.
  • Lunges will help to improve the muscle tone in the backside.

You can also help yourself to lose weight by using resistance bands. These are like giant rubber bands that you stretch and pull. They can build muscles in the arms and backside when used properly, and are very affordable and easy to store!

Keep Up With Aerobic Exercises

None of this means you should give up your aerobic exercise as well. Even men who want to lose weight will still jog or go bike riding or do something else to keep themselves busy and active. This will help to also burn those calories and use up stored body fat.

But adding in some simple strength training will help to speed up this process. You will notice that you’re losing more quickly and that you’re also looking better as well, since toned muscles typically look nicer. So even if you don’t necessarily shed pounds, you will look better overall.

Remember that you can lose weight no matter what, if you know the secrets to doing so. While sometime men may have it easier in this regard, they too still need to work at it. So don’t give up and soon you’ll see you’ve been successful!
