Is It Possible To Lose Weight For Good?
With the majority of population weighing more than they ought to, the answer to this question gains importance.
Businesses are crying hoarse about the benefits of their products or services in helping us lose weight. But none mentions about the weight loss being permanent. The only reason for this silence is the absence of any guarantee that the weight lost after so much effort will be permanent.
When this subject is studied in-depth, we can see that the previous generation never struggled like us with their weighty problems. Overweight in those days was due to some medical problems. Otherwise, people weighed normal.
The reason may be the regularity in their food habits and physical activities. The food they ate gave them enough energy to do their daily tasks. They never starved themselves to acquire stick-thin figures of the glamorous models.
Now, we diet and deprive ourselves of many of the foods eaten by our previous generation, in our pursuit of the ever-elusive dream figure. The aftereffects of this deprivation are very much evident. This brings us to the topic of diets.
To diet or not – this is the question
Diets are the most harmful discoveries of human kind. They destroy the balance of the body activities and wreck havoc in the body functions. This is true even for the most healthy-sounding diets.
Human beings are not meant to diet. There already exists an automatic weight control mechanism in our body, which is destroyed when we diet. This mechanism is able to control our food intake and keep our weight stable without any harmful effect.
Dieting and its aftereffects
When we diet, we avoid some foods and eat others to keep the total calories in check. This abstinence and force-feeding prompts an imbalance in our system, which throw our damage-control system out of gear. The result of dieting is deprivation of essential nutrients from the foods we are supposed to eat.
By reducing the food intake, we place our body in famine-mode. In this situation, the reflex action of our body is to conserve the fat reserves for emergency purposes. This defensive mechanism of our body undermines the very purpose of dieting.
Many dieters will certify to the fact that after a certain point, the diet will have no positive effect on the body. Most diets fail as a result of this. Once you leave the diet, whatever little weight lost will come back in no time.
Give free rein to body’s natural instincts
For a change, instead of listening to the so-called experts who devised all these harmful diets, listen to the body. The body is quite capable of handling its problems without outside intervention. It is self-sufficient in the maintenance department.
With the body taking control of its activities without external interference, peace reigns in the body. This results in the person feeling great and confident about self and the body. With peace comes energy, as it is not wasted in frivolous pursuits.
