Motivate yourself through Affirmation in weight loss
Weight loss can be a very challenging experience if you don’t prepare for it properly. There is more to a weight loss program than just diet plan and exercise routine. A lot of time it happens that we meticulously follow the diet; we religiously do our exercise but after achieving the target we leave the diet and exercise only to find ourselves fat all over again.
This vicious cycle leave many of us depressed and frustrated. The key is to realize where you are doing mistake and work toward devising a plan that is best suited to our bodies and which will pose an overall life style modification. In this you will be replacing your poor habits which are piling weight on you with healthier ones.
The basis of success for any weight loss lies in your level of motivation, the higher the motivation the more likely you are going to succeed in reducing your weight. In order to keep the motivation level up, you need to work on your conscious as well as subconscious mind.
The power of subconscious mind:
It is very powerful, if it works towards achieving our goals we have no inner conflict, rather the goal is very easily achieved. The problem arises when subconscious mind hinder with our conscious choices. For example you know you have to maintain your diet but instead of eating an apple when you are hungry you reach for chocolate. Here the conscious mind is telling you that you should eat an apple but subconscious mind is directing your attention towards chocolate.
In order to tame the subconscious mind in working towards your goal, you can use various mind techniques; one of them is Affirmation. In this technique you work on conveying a message from your conscious mind to your subconscious mind.
Affirmation technique:
This technique aims to embed in your subconscious something which is positive and true but it may not have manifested in your life yet. In Affirmation technique you say certain sentences over and over again to yourself with conviction. The sentences are designed to convey a firm message to subconscious about you.
These sentences are positive, always start with “I ”and are in present tense. The element of negativity should not be included in affirmation sentences as it induces fear and failure. If you want to tell yourself “ no chocolates, I will not quit my diet” it should be like “ I enjoy eating healthy foods, my healthy diet is easy and fun”.
The theory of affirmation is that since mind can hold one thought at a time, if you replace the thought of eating junk and breaking your diet with healthy options and loving it, your subconscious mind will direct you to choose the healthy option as it now relays to you that healthy eating is easy and fun.
You can make a list of affirmative sentences and recite them in the morning aloud to yourself and before going to sleep.
