Quick and Simple Weight Loss Exercises You Can Do Right at Home
Who has time these days to spend hours at the gym, where you often wind up waiting for equipment longer than you spend on the equipment itself? But thankfully there are real weight loss exercises you can do right at home which are still effective and quick. You don’t need a lot of fancy equipment to really lose weight at home, on your own.
Typically the best way to do weight loss exercises at home is to get a DVD or tape of a routine you can follow. You can also usually find routines available through your cable company; if you have an “on demand” feature, look to see if they have exercise routines. But if not, there are routines you can make up on your own.
How to Run or Walk at Home
Running and walking are great ways to burn calories and you can do this at home. If you don’t have a treadmill, walk in place for thirty minutes or so. Do this in front of a television program so that you know how long you’ll take. An hour is even better and you can do this when watching a show on television as well.
Use the Stairs!
If you have stairs at home, run up and down them for as long as you can. Don’t feel self-conscious about this since you’re probably home alone and no one is watching! Stairs help to tone the muscles in the legs and can really get the heart rate going.
You can get a jump rope or make one out of clothesline if you want, and use this at home. Jumping rope is good to get your heart moving because your whole body is moving. It increases the heart rate and respiratory rate and helps you to burn calories.
Resistance Exercises at Home
Other weight loss exercises you can do at home include simple resistance exercise. Do some push-ups to tone your arms. If you struggle with this, start on your knees rather than your toes so you have less weight on your arms. You can also lean against a wall and push back and forth as well; this will help tone the muscles in the arms.
Sit-ups and crunches also help to strengthen your stomach and your back when they’re done right. You don’t need to do a lot for them to be effective; simply work on your stomach as long as you can. Or lay flat on your back and lift your legs in the air slightly to work your stomach muscles.
Some weight loss exercises you can do at home also include resistance training. If you don’t have hand weights, use something like a gallon jug filled with water or milk. Or use a laundry soap carton to help you do arm curls and tone your arms.
There really is no end to the weight loss exercises you can do at home, if you use your imagination and don’t let yourself become self-conscious. This will mean weight loss without ever having to join a gym!
