Slow Weight Loss- Why It’s Better

| November 1, 2009 | 0 Comments

What most dieters think wrongly about is that when they don’t shed off the pounds immediately- whatever things they do or eat to lose weight is not effective. But then weight watchers specifically have long claimed that losing a pound or two weekly or even lesser than that is healthy. Although it can become a discouragement if the numbers on your scale don’t come down instantly but you can think the other way around. To give you enlightenment about this, here are some of the things that make losing weight slowly even better than losing it immediately.

Aiming for a certain weight at a certain time pressures anyone into doing things which are unnecessary and sometimes dangerous. So instead of planning a diet for a special occasion, make this as a life changing plot. Adopting a mindset regarding weight loss that is only temporary would only give you a quick fix over what could be a lifetime problem. Aside from being relaxed, this would give you a healthier diet that you can use for a lifetime.

Good eating habits are developed

Focusing your attention into dieting slowly can help you develop a lot of good eating habits which you can acquire and even impart to others. Some of the good eating habits include:

Eating all required meals per day- Skipping meals can definitely sabotage your diet plan. Eating your meals is very important and you should not miss this out even if you think you are still full.

Better food choices- This means that you munch over healthy food like fruits and vegetables rather than on fast or junk food. Foods that contain no nutritional value at all but just add up on your unwanted calories per day is avoided. Also being wiser on food choices like protein over what used to be carbohydrates.

Weight loss achieved slowly lasts longer

The chance of keeping an ideal weight for years after crash dieting is less likely compared to that of losing weight slowly. This is so because after the weight shed too soon off your body in turn the metabolism also slows down. Overtime when the body is able to adjust to lower calories then metabolism also slows down as well as the weight loss process.

Slowly but steady

If after months you think that your body has stopped losing weight then you can do some adjustments. This could be by enhancing even more your exercise routines or cutting off more calories because your body might be in a weight loss plateau. It is important though to take note that the slower the weight loss is then the healthier it is. Make sure that there is constant shedding off of pounds even at small amounts only.

Be encouraged when losing weight even if it means that you can’t get the desired weight in a week’s time. What is important is that you keep a positive mind over your ideal weight and that it will be achieved soon but not just now. You can try to prepare yourself by buying your desired clothes – one or two size smaller than the usual and believe that you can use it- eventually.
