| October 2, 2009 | 0 Comments

Setting goals is the easy part. You could have set generically saying, “I want to loose weight” or more specifically with, “I want to loose 10 pounds”. Either way, staying motivated to do just that isn’t always easy. There are things you can do to make it better though!

Create a Vision.
Here is where you need to sit down and visualize where you want to be. Thinks of your all time goals. Maybe you want to be a certain weight or loose a certain number of pounds. Either way, be specific about where you want to end up.

Set Realistic Goals Each Weeks.
Now it is time to set small, realistic goals to allow you to accomplish your vision. It is a good idea to avoid setting goals based on pounds. This can discourage you when and if you don’t meet those specific goals. Instead make goals you can control such as, “I will walk five miles this week”.

Schedule Your Exercise.
Having a specific schedule will make it harder to skip it. Make sure that you schedule at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 days a week and remember that the more you exercise the more likely you are to loose weight. Make sure you stick to your schedule as well!

Build a Support Team.
Support is often an important part of loosing weight successfully. You can ask for support from friends and family members. This can come in several different forms including people to exercise with, people to encourage, and people to check up on you and how you are doing.

Understand Habits.
Good habits always seem harder to have then bad habits. However, no matter what type of habits you are talking about it takes at least 30 days to form a habit and often a as many as 90 days. Because habits are hard to form you need to work hard at forming your positive lifestyle habits that will help you loose weight, get in shape, and live a healthier life.

Reward Yourself.
For many they need a little encouragement to make it from one goal to another. This is fine; give yourself rewards! Make sure you never use food as a reward since it can cause issues in your life. Give yourself little rewards for small goals and big rewards for big goals. Just make sure your reward goes along with your healthy lifestyle.

Change It Up.
The final tip for staying motivated in your weight loss goals is to change it up. It can be really hard to do the same thing day after day and week after week. So, try new things, do new exercises, and go new places so you don’t get bored.

Staying motivated is hard, but it isn’t impossible. You can if you focus on small goals and work toward meeting them. This will allow you to take it one day at a time, and don’t forget to talk to everyone for motivation and support!
