How Can Drinking Water Help With Weight Loss?
Some people say that water is a miracle way to lose weight while others say that it has no affect one way or another. Truth of the matter is that you won’t lose weight from drinking water alone. A healthy diet and exercise are still important. But water makes a huge difference and helps you lose weight more effectively.
Water Makes The Body Function Correctly.
Water is important for a number of bodily functions. It is a huge part of keeping the body going and it should make sense that by providing the body with the appropriate amount of water makes a difference in how it functions. Here is what water can do for you:
Water helps your body digest properly.
Water is necessary for excretion.
Water keeps the body temperature in the correct range.
Water keeps the blood healthy and able to do its job.
Water is Necessary in Order to Burn Calories.
The body uses water every time it burns calories. This is something that isn’t easily done if there isn’t enough water in the body.
Water Flushes Out Toxins and Impurities.
Toxins and impurities slow down the body functions. Water works on getting rid of these. It works well for those that are on the skin as well as in the body.
Water Suppresses Appetite.
Water is the most natural appetite suppressant and it isn’t dangerous. It makes you feel fuller faster. If you drink it with a meal you will eat less and you are less likely to snack all day long if you drink it during the day.
Dehydration Slows Fat Burning.
The hardest way to get energy is to burn fat. This is bad news for many people. Especially those that don’t drink water. It takes more water to burn fat then it does muscle and other tissues. The body will burn those tissues first if there isn’t enough water to burn the fat. Water is necessary for fat burning.
How Much Water?
This is much debated. Some experts say that eating foods with a lot of water is enough. Others go by the old 8 glasses of water a day for at least 64 ounces. Still others say that you should divide your weight (in pounds) in half and take that number for how much water you should have. If you are 150 pounds you would then need 75 ounces of water. If you are 300 pounds you should have 150 ounces of water.
Cold or Warm.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about cold or warm water for weight loss. On one hand cold water is absorbed more quickly. On the other hand you can drink larger amounts of warm water more quickly. All in all, do what you need to and get your water in for the day.
Water is perfect for helping with weight loss. Drink lots of water and help your body function properly. It won’t make you lose weight, but coupled with good eating and exercise and you have a winner.
