Some people use the term fat loss, others the term of weight loss. Do they mean one and the same thing? For many people it does. The terms are somewhat different in content. If you want to lose fat healthily, you need to know the difference.

Measuring Your Weight
The weight loss is what you see every day on the bathroom scale. The fat loss is never accurately shown by the bathroom scales. The bathroom scales measure the overall weight and not the body fat by itself. The body is dehydrated during the night, so your weight will be lower before breakfast. The water along with the wastes is eliminated after the bowel movement.
After not eating anything and a night of sleep the carbohydrate, deposit is running low. You are lighter without the glycogen. What is the process? You have lost weight, not fat. The body fat remains at its place and the substances like water, glycogen and wastes are depleted.

The Muscle Loss
Some weight loss can cause you losing muscle. In turn, your body will gain less fat. This is a ironical thing, isn’t it? This happens because the more muscle mass the more the fat will burn. Muscle is an active tissue and in order to function it needs calories. The body fat just sits and does nothing. It does not burn calories on its own. The fewer calories the body burns, the more calories are stored as body fat.

Avoid the Starvation
How can a person lose muscle during a weight loss diet? First, you should choose a diet and stick on it. The majority of diets have a harsh restriction on the calorie intake or food in general. The body signals the mind that you are starving. The body is meant to store fat for the hard period to come. It will thus use up the muscles for energy in the day-by-day activities.
Several diets promote cutting the carbohydrate. This is the most important source of energy for the body. If your body is depleted of carbohydrate, it uses the body fat and protein from the muscles. As you can see, if you reduce the consumption of carbohydrates the body will again think you are starving. This vicious cycle is cannibalizing the muscles and it gets back on the track. The same thing applies to individuals that use slimming pills.

The Cardio Issue
Just doing a lot of cardio is not sufficient in order to lose weight. This is a severe mistake. The body is a very adaptable machine. The muscles are heavier than fats. The body will weigh more if you add up muscles. It is much healthier though. As you see, it is better to weigh more, but have more muscles than fat. The amount of pounds you weigh is less important. It is more important to lose the body fat and don’t worry about the bathroom scale. Therefore, try to gain more muscle mass and lose the body fat.
