What you eat and how you heat it is often very important to weight loss. There are simple things that can make a huge difference for your weight loss goals. It doesn’t take a lot of work to make little meal changes that can make a big difference.

Water.
Start each meal with water. This will help you feel fuller sooner. Don’t drink too fast, but do drink it up while you get your meal ready. Continue to drink water during your meal.

Breakfast.
Breakfast is very, very important to weight loss. It curbs hunger, makes it less likely that you will binge later in the day, and helps you avoid sweets. Make sure you always eat breakfast.

Several Small Meals.
Aim for six meals a day. Each meal should be smaller. This makes it easier for you to remain full all day and keeps you from over eating.

Fruits and Vegetables.
Have a large portion of fruits and or vegetables with every meal. This will let you feel fuller with fewer calories. It will also help you get a wide range of nutrients.

Meat.
If you are eating meat you need to do so in moderation. Think small. It isn’t time to eat a 10 ounce steak. Instead you should have about 4 ounces of meat. This is about the size of a deck of cards.

Starches.
Often the rest of the meal is made of a starch. Maybe it is rice, pasta, or potatoes. Whatever it is, make sure that you take it in moderation. The largest portion of your meal should be your fruit or vegetable (potatoes don’t count as veggies). Then you should have a medium sized portion of starch.

Start With Small Portions.
It is easy to pick out large portions. This is especially true if you are feeling hungry. However, it is best if you start with a small portion and come back for seconds and even thirds. But take only a small amount so that it will be easier to stop once you are full.

Eat Slowly and Savor Your Food.
It takes the body 15 to 20 minutes to realize it is full. If you eat slow you are much less likely to over eat. Many of us eat and eat and then only realize that we have over eaten once it is way too late. Take your time, savor your food, and make your meal last.

Stop When You’re Full.
This can be hard for a number of reasons. Reasons we often keep eating include not wanting to waste food, wanting to continue tasting it, and or feeling like you need to clean your plate. No matter why you usually continue to eat you need to make sure you stop when you are full.

Good meal tips can make a huge difference when it comes to weight loss. Choose foods and habits that will help make your weight loss goals a success. Each meal is important to your body and should be decided carefully.
