How many times it has happened that you start an exercise routine enthusiastically but after some time lose the desire to do it anymore. Maybe it is because you find it hard to do or you are just feeling lethargic or maybe you think it takes too much time. Whatever the reason for your not doing exercise, one thing is evident you have lost the desire to do exercise.
Desire to do anything comes from motivation, when you are faced by a challenge in an activity it is our desire that force us and break through the barrier of resistance. Motivation throughout exercise is a main component that keeps us on track of an exercise routine and helps us in losing weight.

Motivation in exercise
You can make sure that you stay motivated in exercising routine by considering following:

  • Your attitude toward exercise:
If you do the exercise as chore you will never enjoy it and most likely to abandon it after a while. Make it fun; remind yourself what benefit exercise is giving you and how it is conditioning your body.
  • Gradual increase in intensity:
In following an exercise regime one needs to follow a certain program, a lot of people make this program a rather strict one. You have to realize each one of us has different bodies and they will react differently to the same exercise. So if you cannot do 50 stomach crunches, do not beat yourself about it. You need to take thing slowly and get your body adjusted to the new routine, the most common mistake is doing too much exercise too soon, the result is most of us abandon the routine altogether.
  • Make exercise more fun:
You can have fun by doing it while watching TV or doing it with a friend. When doing exercise with friend, make sure you don’t turn this in to a competition. Try to focus on your own weight loss, make a chart of your progress and encourage and reward yourself for each milestone achieved.
  • Look for alternates :
If you find regular exercise boring try doing something which you enjoy there are many activities which can be fun and also help you burn loads of calories. You can try swimming, dancing, skating, tennis or Golf etc. You need to find your own personal favorite activity, exercise does not mean just getting up on tread mill, it can be a walk in the park while chatting with friends, dancing with your partner, having a game of tennis.

It is just a matter of getting in to routine and once the transition of being active from in activity occurs smoothly you are less likely to quit. You are more likely to stick to a task if you know why you are doing it? What benefits are coming out of it? What goals you tend to achieve and lastly but most importantly you are having fun doing it.
