Motivate yourself through reality check
One reason of why we keep on piling pounds on our body is our complete denial of reality. We think since there is no apparent danger out of being fat we hardly worry about it. It results in delaying any action related to doing something about it, even when we know what the problem is.
Most of the fat people’s spouses avoid making them conscious of fact that they are fat; in fact they contribute in making them fat by telling them there is nothing wrong with them. This leads to creation of a situation where obesity gets out of hand and start causing serious health problems.
If you are aware that you are overweight and needs to reduce weight but cannot seem to start working towards it than maybe it is time for the reality check method. Reality check is aimed towards giving your brain a signal that things are wrong and you need to do something about it.
How to do a reality check?
You can perform reality check by doing the following activity:
- Take a picture
You can take a picture in your loose clothes, tight clothes and in under garment. Now place the picture with a magazine cut out of someone you consider slim, someone you consider fat and lastly someone you consider obese. Find out where you are? You will be surprise to see where you fall. This will serve as a reality check and a motivator to start doing something about your weight. - Visit your doctor
You can schedule a visit with your doctor. Try to find out your blood pressure, your heart rate, and your BMI score. A doctor will be able to guide you better regarding what risk are associated with your weight and what diet you should follow to reduce it. Doctor will also guide you which form of exercise will suit you and how much you should do in a week. The visit to the doctor is usually a form of eye opener for anyone who is over weight as you get a body specific analysis of what you should be doing to get rid of extra fat and what will happen if you do not.
Reality check is a very good method of getting a comprehensible picture about your body, it clear away any misconception you have regarding your weight or the way you look. When you realize the weight problem you will get the motivation to do something about it. Here the key is not to go overboard; you need to follow a weight loss program which introduces life style modifications.
These programs are based on long term basis where you slowly and gradually lose weight. You are not following crash diets or extreme exercise routines, instead replacing your bad habits which are resulting in weight gain with good ones. The goal is to provide an over haul of your life so you can loose and maintain weight with health.
