So, you want to lose weight after not being able to fit in your wardrobe. You probably feel that you are against an impossible task with all of the problems that you have been having. However, anyone can lose weight as long as they put their minds to it. One way to achieve this would be by trying to make sure that you are able to keep up the necessary effort and the work required to lose weight. You can think of it as a physics equation. You have to spend energy to get rid of stored energy or fat in your body.

The Key is Burning Calories

The key is to burn your calories as much as you can. This is important, since a calorie is in essence a measurement of energy. Hence, any unused calories after your meal get deposited as an energy cell in your body. Of course, since your body is not a machine, the energy is not stored in a battery, but rather it is stored in fat cells which act like batteries. Thus, your extra calories function as stored energy in fat molecules, which can be dissolved and utilized when they are needed.

How Many Calories make up a Pound of Fat?

Over time, all of these fat cells can accumulate in your body and pretty soon you will have belly fat on you. In essence, 3500 calories constitute 1 pound of belly fat. This means that for every 3500 pound that you consume, you will be taking in an extra pound in your body. As you can surmise, this can really make up lot of pounds over time.

How Can You Get Fat with these Extra Calories?

Imagine that you are drinking two servings of Cola every day. If you look at the labels, you can quickly see that some of the brands of colas available will have 80 to 100 calories inside a single serving alone. This means that drinking two cans of cola can cause you to gain 200 calories per day or just in 17 days; you can get enough calories to constitute a pound of extra weight.

Thus, as you can see, it can be really easy to gain weight just even by drinking soda every day. Now multiply that with all of the fast foods that you have been eating over the years and you can quickly see that it can get very cumbersome really soon. However, you can do something about it as long as you understand the process described above.

So How Can You Lose Weight?

Thus, as you can see, losing weight can be as simple as staying away from extra calories. You can do this, as long as you are able to do the following:

  • Exercise, exercise and exercise. You can’t lose weight without some form of an exercise every day. Jog, run, swim, play tennis, lift weights. Do whatever you want but exercise.
  • Eat less every day. Keep down your calorie intake
  • Stay away from fast foods, sweet drinks etc.
  • Sleep well and keep away from stress
