Tips For the Yo Yo Dieter
If you have tried all the diets then chances are you know what a yo yo dieter is and you know how frustrating it can be. However, getting out of the yo yo diet cycle isn’t as hard as one may think. It just takes a little knowledge and a little work.
What Is Yo Yo Dieting?
Yo yo dieting refers to on again, off again dieting. Sometimes it is the same diet and other times it is different diets. It also includes the weight loss and gain cycle associated with it.
The Problem.
Yo Yo diets aren’t sustainable and often lead to starting a diet, losing weight, ending the diet, and gaining weight back. Whether the diet isn’t something that can last forever or it is something that starves the body, the problem remains the same. You get off the diet and gain the weight back.
Consider Positive Lifestyle Changes.
The answer to it all is positive lifestyle changes. Not dieting, but changes that will allow you to reach your goals and avoid the weight loss, weight gain cycle forever.
Skip The Diets.
Dieting is often impossible to do or to maintain. Skip it. Instead making positive changes in your eating habits will allow you to lose weight. This is important for maintaining your weight loss for the future. These changes should be something you can always do!
Avoid Binging.
Binging is horrible for weight loss. It often happens after times of deprivation, so the body is already concerned that it is starving. You put a lot of calories, often from high fat and high sugar foods, into your body and it tries to store it all as fat. The best thing for you is to avoid binging whenever possible.
Eat Often.
If you eat often then you won’t be hungry and it will be easier for you to eat less at each meal and snack. Additionally you are less likely to grab unhealthy foods because you won’t need to eat now.
Be Patient.
We all want the weight to come off super quick and super easy. But it doesn’t do that very well and especially if we want to maintain our weight loss. So be patient with it. Aim for losing one to two pounds a day.
There Is No Quick Fix.
There is no quick fix, no magic pill, no miracle diet, or super exercise. Losing weight takes time, energy, work and lifestyle changes if you want to lose the weight and keep it off. Sure you can try some fancy diet and lose 15 pounds this week and gain 20 pounds three or four weeks from now. But it just isn’t a good idea.
Yo Yo dieting and the weight losses and gains it causes effects a lot of people, ut it doesn’t have to effect you. You can make changes in your life that will make you lose weight, allow you to keep it off, and avoid the on again and off again cycle forever.
