Types of diet, what are they?
When we talk about weight loss the first and primary thing that we have on mind is the word “diet”. But what are the types of diet? Aside from cutting back calorie per meal, there are many other types of diet that we can follow to be healthier and slimmer at the same time. So why not discover these diets!

There are many kinds and types of diet that we can follow to be able to lose weight. one great thing about choosing our own diet is that it can simply fit into our lifestyle. Remember that all people are not created equal with each other, so one diet type may not be effective on others but effective on you.
1.Very low fat diet – this diet entails very low total fat and low on sodium diet. It is rich with whole grain carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables and legumes. Basically it has two sub types:
a.Ornish diet – this diet allows unlimited consumption of fruits, grains and vegetables. All non fat dairy products are taken with moderation while meats, oils, nuts and sugar are prohibited.
b.Pritikin diet – very rich on complex carbohydrates and starchy vegetables also there’s limited refined grains that you can eat like pasta and white bread. Over all this diet means taking raw and cooked vegetables most of the time and foods that are high on mineral calcium. You can eat only one serving of meat or fish in a day.
2.Vegetarian diet – this diet has been denoted commonly as eating vegetables only, but that is not the real meaning of this diet because it has sub types like:
a.Vegan – eats only vegetables, grains or legumes
b.Lacto vegetarian – eats the above foods plus cheese and dairy products
c.Ovo vegetarian – they add up eggs to their meal routine
d.Semi vegetarian – they don’t consume meat but they do eat fish, chicken, eggs and dairy products.
3.Mediterranean diet – this diet originated from the people of Mediterranean sea. It includes eating fruits and vegetables, unsaturated fats like olive oil and canola oil plus small portion of nuts. They get regular serving of healthy fishes like tuna, salmon or mackerel. Red meat and other sources of saturated fat are strictly eliminated.
4.Carb cutting diet – this diet lowers your carbohydrate intake, but makes you consume high on protein sources like red meats. You should avoid carbohydrates like processed breads, white rice, cake or cookies as well as grains, some fruits and some vegetables. South beach diet is one form of carb cutting diet but with a twist like you are allowed to eat small portions of complex carbs like vegetables, grains and fruits.
5.TLC diet – this diet uses the food pyramid guide to consume healthy foods. They mostly eat grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, lean meats and beans.
