Drink plenty of water:
Water helps to get rid of toxins in your body, helps your body to burn more calories and also helps you to lose weight. Water fills your stomach and suppresses hunger. If you drink a glass of water before food, you feel full and eat less. When you drink less water, you body gets dehydrated. Dehydration reduces the level of metabolism in your body and thus few calories are burnt. When you don’t drink enough water, the liver does not function efficiently and turn fat into fuel. Instead fat is stored in your body, making you gain weight. When the body does not get enough water, the body, holds on to all the water, which, is then stored in different parts of your body, increasing your weight. Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Don’t skip your breakfast:
Many people believe that dieting means skipping breakfast. Actually this is a wrong notion. Breakfast is the first and most important meal of the day. If you don’t eat your breakfast, your metabolism level will be low. This means less calories will be burnt though out the day, even if you have food later during the day.

Intake more fiber:
Fiber helps you to lose weight and also control certain health conditions. Fiber contains no calories and gives you the feeling of fullness. Fiber takes a long time to eat and makes your stomach feel full, even if you eat less. It also does not make you feel hungry between meals. Fiber is found in raw vegetables, fruits, whole grain and oat meals. Fiber also reduces the risk of colon cancer, stroke, gastrointestinal diseases, cholesterol and controls diabetes.

Avoid unhealthy fats:
Consuming too much of fat can increase the risk heart diseases, cholesterol and blood pressure. But not all fat is bad. Fat is an important component of your diet. Fat provides energy for our body to function and helps our body to absorb vitamins. It prevents deficiency of essential fatty acids. You should avoid trans fat or saturated fat and instead consume mono unsaturated fat found in olive oil, nuts, certain fishes etc.

Protein:
A diet rich in protein is recommended for building muscles and losing weight. It gives you the feeling of fullness for a long period. People who take less carbohydrate should take more proteins to reduce their blood sugar levels. Protein is available in meat, fish, Soya products, pulses, poultry, nuts, pulses and eggs. By doubling your fiber intake, you can lose extra 9-10 pounds in a year.
