Diets Don’t Work
Everybody who decides to lose weight, first think of the word ‘diet’. Some people, in spite of being overweight, think that dieting is a very difficult task. Because when you start dieting, you have to lose calories, so you have to keep count of your calorie intake, you have to limit your food, you are deprived of the foods you love, sometimes you have to eat food you don’t like, most of the time you are left feeling hungry and you just don’t enjoy your diet plan.
Dieting is not understood properly:
Dieting is sometimes misunderstood by many, and sometimes involves a lot of restrictions. It is quite depressing. We don’t know how to control our craving for food or how to control our hunger. We don’t enjoy partying, because we have to sit with a bowl of soup when others are enjoying food that we would love to eat.
Eventually we feel fed up of dieting, of being deprived of favorite foods, of being hungry, tired, and the lack of energy. This makes us quit dieting and go back to uncontrollable eating with negative thoughts about the word ‘diet’, and we regain all the weight we have lost, sometimes more.
Tend to cheat at times:
When dieting shows no results, you get frustrated, disappointed and naturally discouraged. And when you start craving for your favorite foods and feel the pangs of hunger, you start cheating and soon go back to your old eating habits.
People, who start dieting, are only thinking of losing weight and reducing their body shape, and they don’t realize that they are going through a period of unhealthy lifestyle.
Don’t quit:
Dieter’s ignore their body’s physical and psychological emotions and their feelings of hunger. They lose their ability to eat according to the needs of their body. Though they have a sense of control in the beginning, later diet takes control away from us. They tend to become completely dissatisfied with their diet plans, and finally they quit it.
This makes them feel that they don’t have trust in themselves, they feel guilty and a failure in achieving their goals. So they start dieting again. This leads to the yo-yo diet circle, of losing weight and gaining weight. The body will not be able to stand the swing of weights and it turns to be stressful, harmful and unhealthy.
Avoid starving:
People who diet don’t understand what true dieting is. They don’t understand the need to eat nutritious and healthy foods and the difficulty to live in this diet mode throughout their lives.
When you diet, you starve, and this lowers your metabolism, so your body burns few calories, which does not bring weight loss. Although you lose muscles and fat during your diet, when you regain weight, it is fat and not muscles, thus increasing your weight.
Change your lifestyle:
Studies have shown that 95% of the diets fail. What you need to do is change your lifestyle. Eat foods containing carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals, in moderate quantity and do consistent exercising. By making these changes, you will very soon see your clothes getting loser. You will not be giving your body a deprived diet, but appropriate amounts of healthy foods and exercise needed to make you healthy and disease free.
