Decided to lose weight? Good! Before you step into your weight loss program, there is one important thing you have to keep in mind. Weight loss does not happen overnight or in the blink of an eye. It takes time. Weight loss requires commitment, discipline and adherence to a well balanced and nutritious diet plan and consistent exercising.

Don’t fall in a trap:
People who decide to lose weight receive so many opinions, read about many types of diet plans, and hear about various diet pills. People are confused as to what to choose, that finally they either make the wrong choice or end up doing nothing. Please don’t get taken in by false advertisements and information. It is not possible to lose 10 pounds in a week or 37 pounds in four weeks. Normally a healthy weight loss is only around 1-2 pounds in a week. Anything above that is impossible, and harmful to your health. It’s just a trap. Remember that!

Rapid weight loss is impossible:
Obesity or overweight makes you embarrassed, shameful, and disturbs you mentally and physically. You want to get rid of your excess weight as early as possible. But the problem is, it can’t be solved as easily as you think. Losing weight is not as easy as quitting smoking and drinking. Stopping smoking and drinking, is easy. You just have to make a serious and determined decision and quit. But can you quit eating? Maybe a day or a week! Can you stay without food longer than that? Well, what happens? Naturally you start eating again. This means, you are back to square one! So it’s not that easy to lose weight in a week or ten days. It takes time……….

So an important and difficult encounter in weight loss is that it takes a long time to successfully achieve the desired weight loss goal. As I mentioned earlier, normally recommended weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week and anything more than that, will result in gaining weight back, because this rapid weight loss can not be managed successfully for a long period.

Rapid weight loss is temporary:
Quick weight loss is not permanent, and it is only temporary. It will not last. It will lead to weight loss, weight gain, again weight loss and so on. This is the yo-yo method of weight loss which is very harmful for the health. This only results in muscle loss, which decreases the efficiency of metabolism and results in less burning of fat.

Forget quick weight loss. Ads which advertise rapid weight loss are all fake and unreliable. What you should aim for is a permanent and healthy weight loss. I know when the process of weight loss is slow, you will get frustrated. But frustrations will only block the road to success.

Be Patience:
Whether you want to lose 10 pounds or 50 pounds, what you should realize is that IT WILL TAKE TIME, and how do you spell success in weight loss?

You need will power, determination, discipline, sincerity, perseverance and above all patience, to reach your dream weight, maintain it, and have a healthy and diseases free life. A balanced diet and consistent exercising will help you to reach your goal successfully.
