More and more people are turning to weight loss hypnosis. There are CD’s and books that you can buy that will even tell you how to do it. There is a whole industry surrounding it these days. But does it work?

What is weight loss hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. Once in this state the sub-conscious can be communicated to and others can make suggestions for that part of your brain. This is usually done with verbal repetitions or mental images. When dealing with weight loss hypnosis the process is the same, but the message has to do with weight loss.

The Power of the Mind.
The idea behind hypnosis, especially weight loss hypnosis, is that the brain has power over the body and other factors in your life. This is hard for some to handle, but it is easily embraced because the sub-conscious self is powerful and your mind can help control your issues.

Science.
Many people need scientific proof. Some research has been done, but there is no research that proves one way or the other whether or not it works. One study found that people who went through weight loss hypnosis lost an average of six pounds without working on it. Other studies suggest that weight loss hypnosis combined with a diet and exercise program can work.

Making It Work.
Reality says that it may or may not work, but that it can help if you are willing to work at the weight loss. Many of us struggle with weight because we struggle to do something about our weight problems. Because of this we can use the weight loss hypnosis as part of our healthy lifestyle.

Meditation.
It is true that you can do a similar thing with high quality meditation. You will need to sit and be quiet while you explore your inner self. Quiet your thoughts and then allow your mind to concentrate of specific concepts such as “being in a fat burning body” and “craving fruit rather then sweets”.

Self-hypnosis.
It should also be noted that while hypnosis is often easiest when it is done by someone who has experience in it, there are ways where you can do self-hypnosis. This is as effective as other types once you learn the techniques required. This is where buying a book or a DVD could be helpful.

Why Not Give It a Try.
Hypnosis won’t work effectively without exercise and a good diet. However, if you are doing those things, then it is a good idea to add hypnosis to your to part of your lifestyle change. It can aid you in a healthier mindset and in losing weight more effectively.

Weight loss isn’t an easy thing to do and weight loss hypnosis isn’t some easy fix. Instead, it can aid you if you are still willing to do the work. It will take work, but there is no reason why hypnosis can’t give you a helping hand.
