Food journal – the most powerful weight management tool

Now how can you keep a tag of the calories you consume everyday? The best way you can do this is to keep a food journal. You should know what food passes your lips. If you eat unhealthy food, you will surely become unhealthy, diseases prone and lack in energy. Research has proved that people, who kept a food journal, lost twice as much weight than people who don’t keep food journal. So keep a food journal and note down everything you eat or drink in a day, even if it’s just a bite. This will help you know how many calories you consume in a day.

Food journal creates awareness in you:
Today people are so busy, rushing to work, going on a vacation, attending to so many cores, that you don’t find time to eat properly. And even you eat something, most of the time you just gobble your food. Whereas keeping a food journal will help you to be aware of what you are eating. You can keep count of your calories. If your calories are more you can make changes in your diet, or burn the extra calories by exercising. This is one thing you should give a serious thought, because if you are overeating, you are sure to see failure in reaching your goal.

Keeping count of calories:
Do you know, an excess of 500 calories per day, will increase your weight by 1 pound in a week? So you have to keep count of the calories you consume. It’s quite easy to know how much calories each food contains. The internet will give you all the information. A body requires about 1500-2000 calories minimum. To have to make a list of each meal and beside each meal you have to note down what you ate and the calorie count. At the end of the day, you can count the calories to know the calories consumed that day. If the count is less than 2000 you are safe, if it’s always higher, you will not lose weight. You don’t have to keep a journal throughout your life very soon you will learn the calories by heart.

Maintain minimum calorie count:
You have to make sure that your calorie count does not exceed what your body’s minimum requirement is. If you happen to do a little bit of cheating and have fatty or sugary food during the weekend, don’t worry just try and reduce your calorie intake for the next two days. Or the only way you can burn those extra calories, is by exercising. If you maintain a regular and consistent routine of exercise, a few extra calories need not be a cause of concern.
