How to Be Active and Stay Fit

Getting up early in the morning and doing exercises can be a considered as a torture. A regular and consistent exercising can make you active and healthy. You can’t ignore the benefits of taking exercises. Regardless of age or sex, exercises keep you flexible and fit. Well if you want to feel energetic and live longer, then start your day with proper exercise.

Exercising makes you healthy:
Exercises can improve your life in a number of ways. First of all exercises makes you relaxed and reduces feeling of depression and anxiety. Exercises help you manage your blood pressure and cholesterol. It helps in reducing your weight and strengthens the functions of your heart and lungs. Exercises strengthen the body muscles which increases the metabolism in your body. This metabolism burns the extra calories, reduces weight, regulates your blood flow and increases your life span. It reduces risk of heart diseases, osteoporosis, obesity and diabetes and also reduces the effects of aging.

Go slow:
Don’t just jump out of your bed one morning and start exercising. First of all exercising requires self-discipline. There are many types of exercise like walking, swimming, jogging, cycling etc. which you can choose according to your convenience. Start slowly. Don’t over strain yourself from the start. If you are walking, start by walking around 10 minutes twice a day, and slowly increase to around 30 minutes to 50 minutes a day. A short walk early in the morning and after dinner in the night helps you to achieve overall fitness. If you don’t start slowly, you will develop body pain. You have to give time to your muscles to adjust. Aerobic exercises improve the functions of your lungs and heart, because it supplies fresh oxygenated blood. Resistance training exercises, increases the muscle mass in your body, which increases metabolism. A combination of aerobic and resistance training exercises helps you to remain trim.

Stretching:
Make sure to do stretching before and after any type of exercising. Circling your head, swinging your arms, forward stretch, side stretch, leg raising, running on the spot are stretches you have to do. Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles, protects your bones and muscles, and also prevent any injury. A slight soreness does develop after your first exercise, but it will disappear in a day or two. Remember no pain, no gain.

Exercising also reduces mental pressure, reduces stress and anxiety and helps you to get good sleep, thereby helping you to remain fit and healthy.

Enjoy Exercising:
Choose an exercise that suits you. If you feel bored then ask a friend or relative to join you. You can also make exercising fun, by reading, listening to movies or watching TV while exercising. Change your routine or you will tend to feel bored like walking one day, cycling the next day, swimming the third day and so on. Play football with your friends, attend dancing classes, go hiking, do any physical activity that you enjoy and it will make you fit and healthy.
