An apple a day might not really keep the doctor away, but an apple a day could help with your weight loss goals. You can eat them in many different ways for great benefits. Plus there is even research to back up the claims!

What Apples Can Do For You.

There are a number of health benefits in relation to apples. Additionally there are a few that matter specifically for weight loss.

  • Apples are high in fiber with a medium apple containing five grams of fiber. This fills you up faster and makes it easier to consume fewer calories throughout the day.
  • The fiber in apples is soluble fiber. This slows the absorption of carbohydrates. This keeps the blood sugar levels even and prevents sugar cravings.
  • Apples are also high in water content. Water is good for the body and helps it burn fat and function as it should. Plus many food cravings happen when people are really thirsty and just don’t realize it. If you eat more water then you are less likely to struggle with thirst issues.

This is often a difficult question to answer. While a single apple will help you out, the studies have been done have been done on three apples a day. This can be a lot of apples, but you can break it up and have it in different ways. You should also have plenty of more fruits and vegetables as well and not just eat apples.

It is ideal to buy your apples from an apple orchard. Not only can you save money, but you can get them at the perfect time too. Place them in the crisper drawer and they will last for at least a month, though some will make it all the way through the winter.

Adding More Apples To Your Diet.

There are lots of ways to add more apples to your diet and by doing so you will reap the benefits.

  • Eating an apple before a meal will make it so that you eat less at that meal.
  • Enjoy apple sauce as well as apples. You can make your own by cutting the apples up and cooking them down. Leave the peals on for more fiber, plus they will get soft during cooking.
  • Eat this apple as a snack. It is easy to take with you and will make a great refreshing snack.
  • You can also make a yummy dessert by cutting your apples up and sprinkling with cinnamon or baking spice. Then microwave them for 1 ½ minutes. Check them and heat them another minute until they are nice and soft. Leave the peal on for added fiber, it will still be really good.

An apple a day may not keep the doctor away, but it will help with your weight loss goals. Remember the goal is to eat a balanced diet and to add apples to that. Enjoy one to three apples a day.
