After delivery many women tend to get a fat belly. The body loses its shape and old clothes don’t fit. Proper diet and exercise help women to get back into shape.

Your delivery is over and you’re a back home with a lovely baby. But later looking at the mirror and finding a huge bulge in your tummy is quite a shocking moment. You have lost your shape and old clothes don’t fit you any more. Naturally you are worried. Is there a way to get back your shape? Don’t worry, there is always a way!

Diet and exercise are the two factors that help you to lose belly fat after pregnancy.

Diet:
You have to be very careful regarding your diet. During pregnancy you would have followed a very strict nutritional diet. After pregnancy you tend to get back to your old eating habits which you followed before pregnancy. This is dangerous. Your diet after pregnancy is equally important as your diet during pregnancy.

Since most women tend to breast feed, your diet is vital not only for your child but also for losing your belly fat. The most important think is that you should avoid junk food on the pretext of looking after the baby.

The right food to eat:
Avoid sugar, fat and sodium in your diet. This can hamper your fat loss plans. Include fish, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and also more of proteins and carbohydrates. You can also include whole grain pasta and cereals in your diet.

You need to cut down your calories and try to eat smaller portions of food. What you eat and how much you eat is the most important thing.

Exercise:

Exercise ball:
Normally mothers are asked to wait for six weeks before starting to exercise. So don’t start jogging and running two or three days after delivery, especially, if you have undergone a caesarian operation. You can start doing sit ups with exercise balls. 30-50 sit ups will help your muscles tighten up. You can notice this after a few weeks.

Brisk walk or swimming:
You can go to the gym or if this is not possible, you can take a brisk walk everyday. After a few weeks if the doctor recommends, you can go for swimming, which is another good option. You need to exercise 30-45 minutes, at least 4-5 days a week. For moms who have to stay at home, there are many exercise video which you can make use of to do exercising at home.

Be positive:
Above all this you should have a positive and determined mental attitude to do the right exercises and eat the right food, to reduce your belly fat and get back into that shape you are longing for.
