The prospect of only having to diet for one week is very attractive to many people who are either too lazy to exercise or follow through with a diet that takes longer. The average weight lost through this period is about ten pounds although this depends on how strict a person is and the person’s metabolism among other factors.
It is important to get a nutritionist’s opinion before starting on any diet to ensure it is effective and efficient. Incase of any pre-existing medical condition, a doctor’s opinion should be sought to prevent medical complications.

In today’s world, the relevant government agencies can only do so much to regulate the weight loss products that are sold and it is an individual’s responsibility to ensure the products they buy are genuine. Another thing to consider is the side effects. Since most weight loss supplements are made from synthetic chemicals, they create chemical imbalances in our bodies and this result in side effects. Yet another consideration is cost and although it is said that cheap is expensive, expensive does not always mean better.

Yet another way to lose weight without exercising is surgery. This should be the last resort because even seemingly uncomplicated surgery can go either way. The process is called liposuction and patients often have to show proof to the doctor and the insurance company that they have attempted to lose weight through dieting and exercising unsuccessfully.
Another surgical method to lose weight without exercising is gastric bypass surgery. This makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine and so a person feels full more quickly than when their stomach was its original size. This also reduces the number of calories being absorbed which further leads to weight loss.
