If you have done weight loss program before you know that weight loss is something which is not easy. We have countless of magazine, website and slimming clinics aimed at us.
If weight loss would have been so easy, everyone will be slim and trim. However reality is very different, most of us are overweight and going through one weight loss program after another with the hope that maybe this will work.

What is wrong?
Why the weight loss is so difficult? Why it is that even after so many proven weight loss programs, many of us are still fat? Well the answer lies in the fact that how many of us have the will to take ourselves to the end of the program before abandoning it?
The most important component which many of us forget to take in to account and work on is motivation. It is the drive that pushes us to keep on going even if the thought of giving up comes in our mind. It helps us in making right choices when we are faced by temptations and deviations.
The carrot on the stick approach:
This approach helps us to be motivated until we reach our goal of weight loss. This approach has been used by millions in the past to motivate themselves in order to achieve their goals.
It involves keeping in sight and constantly reminding yourself the reward you are going to get if you achieve your goal. In weight loss the goal can be anything for which you are losing your weight i.e.

  • If you are losing your weight for someone, place a picture of them beside your bed so you see that first thing in the morning. This will give you renewed energy everyday and it will serve as a reminder.
  • If you are losing weight for certain event than set your realistic goals of weight loss and buy a dress for that event and hang it in the closet. Everyday open your wardrobe and look at that dress and remind yourself that you will be looking so good in the dress.
  • If you are losing weight because of health problem than list all the activities and things you are not able to do now. Keep the list somewhere visible to you first thing in the morning, each day look at it and remind yourself how healthy and fit you will be and what fun you are going to have by doing all these.

Whatever your reason to lose weight, you can either picture it or write it down on piece of paper and keep it somewhere that is accessible to you first thing in the morning. Every day you look at it and remind yourself what you started the weight loss program for. Even if you are losing the weight for yourself, remind yourself what health benefits you are going to enjoy when you reach your goal.
