Shapes and sizes can trick our mind that easily, learning that eating on smaller plate can help us on food portion control now lets us all learn how to lose weight by changing drinking glasses.

Drinking can be the next best thing we have to consider if we are on a diet. Most people would drink power juices or other beverages to ease their cravings and hunger. Instead of eating high caloric desserts like chocolates, white cakes or stuffed goodies we tend to shift our attention on drinking a glass of sweetened orange juice to ease our sweet tooth. But what if we are drinking more than the advisable dose of these beverages? What if we are consuming more than what we need to consume? Researches later found out that by using the wrong drinking glasses we can always commit drinking larger amounts of beverages than what we thought we have taken. This illusion of glasses can really affect our liquid consumption.

Study of drinking glasses towards weight gain…

A certain study to prove this fact had been conducted on Illinois revealing shocking results. Group of researchers arranged a summer camp tour for teenagers and test how much orange juice they can consume by using different types of drinking glasses. They randomly selected teenagers to use a tall and slender drinking glass and a short wide drinking glass. The results revealed that 76% of these teenagers poured more juice on the short wide drinking glass than the tall and slender drinking glass.

They, again conducted this test on group of adults using the same drinking glasses and results revealed the same effects. It shows that 79% of adults who used the wide and short drinking glass have poured more orange juice as compared to adults using tall and slender drinking glass.

This test proves that people perceive that horizontal shapes are smaller as compared to vertical objects even if they have identical volumes. The rule applies to drinking glasses that we use.

Weight loss tip… choose the right drinking glass!

By knowing these facts it can be clearly seen that people who uses short and wide drinking glasses have the tendency to over consume the beverage they are drinking. They are fully unaware that they are consuming more than the usual because they perceive the drinking glass as a small glass.

On the other hand, people using tall and slender drinking glasses can be of much control on what they drink. This is because they conceive that the glass is tall and full making them satisfying even if it is on the same volume as with the short wide drinking glass.
The next time you drink your flavored beverages, be sure to use tall and slender drinking glass.
