There Is No Such Thing as Cheating

Food! It is something, which everybody loves. Over the years, obesity has been on the increase, all over the world. This is not because of right way of eating or wrong way of eating. Actually there is no such thing as that. Gaining weight or losing weight depends on eating unhealthy foods and healthy foods.

Sometimes at a party or a holiday, you might overeat, or sometimes due to over work you might skip a meal. At times you might go for a sumptuous high fat meal and sometimes your meal might be lacking in nutrition. What is important is that you should maintain a healthy lifestyle, eating balanced nutritious food and exercise consistently.

Don’t lose hope; don’t quit:

Sometimes people who are dieting find it difficult to control their craving for deprived food or bear the pangs of hunger. So they might just forget dieting for a moment and eat a high fat or high sugar food. Immediately after that they start feeling guilty. They feel discouraged and lose motivation. They feel disgusted that they blew the whole thing after doing so well. Next thought is “I will start again, maybe after this weekend or from next month”. Or they will feel dejected and think that they don’t have the will power to start again.

Weight loss programs are structured to suit different people according to their comfort. But sticking to the diet and exercise programs without deviating from it for your life time might be quite difficult. That is why people fail. If you change your lifestyle thinking that a deviation from your program will bring failure, it is not sensible.

Life is full of unexpected happenings. You might experience temptations, or they may be some obstacle which makes you change your plan for a day. This should not worry you or de-motivate you. Come back to your program and continue it. Be prepared for anything.

Be prepared to face any obstacles:

Before you start your weight loss program just be prepared to face any obstacles or deviation from your program. Remember that you can cheat a bit and eat some fattening food, or miss an exercise a day. Eat less fattening food the next day and exercise 30 minutes extra. Deviation does not mean failure. Don’t get discouraged, just continue with confidence, you will reach your goal.

Avoid sudden restrictions of food:

Sudden restriction of foods you like might make you crave for it more. Bring about gradual changes in your eating habits. You might have to eat foods you don’t like. Just add some flavors and change the texture. You will slowly start liking them.

Try to enjoy what you eat:

You can have chicken, but bake it instead of frying; use low fat cream instead of butter; flavor your salads with yoghurt or spinach paste. It enhances the taste. If you start enjoying the food, then you stick to these foods for life.

Going to the restaurant does not mean you are eating fatty foods. You can always choose a low fat menu. Whether you eat in a restaurant or your house, remember to eat healthy, nutritious foods, in moderate amount, and you will enjoy benefits of a fit, healthy and disease free life.
