Tips For Drinking Beer On a Diet
Drinking can cause you to gain weight if you don’t make wise choices when it comes to the drinks you choose. Pick out a fancy chocolate martini and a few hundred calories later you may be asking for a second. Go for a Long Island ice tea and it is only going to get worse. However, what should you be choosing when you go for beer? What choices should you be making there?
Not Often.
You often hear men talk about their beer gut. Some of them just have a gut and their occasional beer didn’t cause it. Others really do have a beer gut caused from years of consuming way too much beer. To avoid gaining weight from any alcoholic beverage you choose to consume make sure you aren’t drinking often.
In Moderation.
There is also a difference between enjoying a beer and getting wild crazy drunk. While the wild crazy drunk may seem like fun (at least until illness or the next morning hits), it can do hazards to your weight loss or maintenance goals. The more you drink the less likely you will care about your diet (at least until your senses return). You are likely to drink more and even to eat more if you get crazy drunk. So stick with beer (and other alcoholic drinks) in moderation.
Eat With Your Beer.
Eat before you drink and you are going to be less likely to over indulge.
Choosing a Beer.
Light beer is best when it comes to the number of calories it has. In most cases it has at least 1/3 fewer calories and in some cases as much as half the calories. This makes it a wise choice and in today’s world you can find several types of light beer.
Hate Light Beer?
If you are one of those people who hate light beer than get Guinness instead. This rich dark beer is full of flavor, but only has about 120 calories per serving. This way you get the flavor you want while you are not getting all the calories of many regular beers.
One Last Tip.
If you are drinking for the buzz as well as the taste of your beer than one last tip remains. While your friends might think a glass of water between drinks is wimpy the truth is that it can do a lot for you. Not only is that glass of water likely to make it so that you avoid tomorrows headache it is also going to help rush the alcohol into your system. This means you will feel more buzzed and buzzed longer with less alcohol.
Drinking beer can be done while on a diet. Just make sure you don’t do it often, that you do do it in moderation, and that you make choices that will help you keep your diet. If you are looking for a buzz to go along with a good time drink a glass of water for every glass of beer!
