Tips for Including More Fruits and Vegetables in Your Diet
Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, fiber and they are low in fat and calorie. Five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables, included in your diet everyday, can make you healthy and free from a number of diseases.

Include fruits and vegetables for breakfast:
Breakfast is your first meal. You should never skip breakfast as it slows down your metabolism, and will not help to lose weight. So breakfast is a must and you should include a fruit serving with your breakfast. You can have a tomato sandwich or a toast with grilled tomatoes or mushrooms with a glass of fruit juice or just a fruit.
Eat fresh raw vegetables:
Freshly cut raw vegetables can be made delicious with some French onion dip or spinach dip as a snack. Or it can be lightly fried in olive oil which is fat free. You can chop some fruits and refrigerate them and have it as snacks. It will cool your body and also be healthy.
Salad is a healthy meal:
You can also use vegetables for lunch. You can have tomato soap and some boiled vegetables mixed with brown rice. You can have some fruits topped up with yoghurt. Yoghurt is low in calories. Or you can have low grain cereal with cut fruits and with some low fat milk. You can also have salads as a meal. Salads with fruits or vegetables can make a healthy meal. Lots of lettuce and spinach can be added to your salads as they are low in calories.
Vegetables such as green peas, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumber, beans, are all good suggestions for making salad. Similarly fruits like apples, oranges, raspberries, raisins, blackberries, blueberries, are fruits which can be used in salads. You can also have a pizza without cheese, and with lots of vegetables. You can have some steamed vegetables for dinner and a fruit. It will be really filling.
Try out different dishes of fruits and vegetables:
Keep fruits like apples, pears, oranges, or keep tomatoes where it is easily seen or on the dining table. Every time you feel hungry, you can have piece of a fruit, or immediately cut 1 or 2 fruit and have it as a snack. You can pre-cut some vegetables and fruits and keep it in the fridge, so that you can easily use them. But remember they don’t last for long. Make sure that they are cut fresh everyday. If you don’t have fresh fruit or vegetables, keep frozen ones handy. They are quick and easy to make.
You can try to grow your own vegetable garden, so that you can get fresh vegetables. If there is a restriction of space, you can grow some spinach and tomatoes as they can be added to all dishes. It is better to use fruits and vegetables according to the seasons, as they will be more economical. Try different fruit and vegetables each day, so that you don’t get fed up of eating the same dish.
So a diet of fruits and veggies is not a difficult thing. Just follow the tips above, and you can remain healthy.
