Unbalance Means Unhealthy!

Unbalanced diet means unhealthy body. If you want to remain healthy and fit, you should consume a balanced diet, because it is a source of all nutrients. Today even teenagers are prone to diseases and are at an increased risk of obesity and diseases like diabetes, cholesterol etc. This is mainly because of lack of nutrients and also lack of any physical activities.

Many children are overweight, because of fast food industry and because parents do not feed the children with sufficient minerals and vitamins. Parents and children should be aware of the health benefits of a balanced diet. A balanced diet should provide the body sufficient carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals for proper functioning of the body.

Deficiencies of minerals make you sick:

Minerals are as important to our body as oxygen. Deficiency in one important mineral can cause diseases. Minerals are of two categories; macro and trace minerals. Macro minerals include calcium, sodium, phosphorus and potassium. And trace minerals are Zinc, iodine, copper, chromium, manganese and fluoride. Each mineral plays a role in the functioning of the human body.

A deficiency of any one mineral upsets the balance and you end up falling sick. Vitamins and minerals need to work hand in hand to give the body the nutrients it requires, and a deficiency in one can lead to a deficiency in another.

A study was conducted on the nutrient values of food. It was found out that because of the pesticides and insecticides used by farmers for growing various crops, the foods produced lost a major portion of their nutritional value, even before they reached the store shelves. This is a major cause of many diseases and is also one of the main reasons for increasing number of people with fat bellies.

Many people do not know the importance of minerals. Everybody thinks that only vitamin is needed for the body. In fact even doctors and dieticians recommend the intake of sufficient vitamins and multi-vitamin supplements. People did not know that minerals are also important as vitamins, because minerals are needed by the body to absorb these vitamins. If there is deficiency of minerals, the vitamins you consume will not be absorbed into the body. Then what is the benefit of taking vitamins? Without minerals, the body is prone to diseases and can lead to obesity.

Minerals strengthen your bones:

Minerals are necessary for the strengthening of our bones and also for strong teeth. It is also necessary for maintaining all the mental and physical processes of our body and converting the food we eat to energy. Minerals are found in dairy products, fish, milk, fruits and vegetables, bread and nuts.

Why do we sometimes crave for foods we are forbidden to eat like fat and sugary foods? Knowing that they are unhealthy, we still feel we want it. The reason behind this craving is the nutritional imbalance in our body. Craving for unhealthy foods make you eat them and where does this lead to? Obesity, naturally! This is a problem faced by millions all over the world. So your diet should include sufficient vitamins and minerals, to keep you healthy and also help you to lose weight.
