Weight Loss: All You Need Is A Little Motivation
You’ve probably seen this scenario all the time: you promise to start losing weight, you move around and actually start with your weight loss plan and then stop stop mid-way. You see another new fad diet, and you try it, then throw in the towel after a week’s time.
So you find yourself stuck in the same vicious cycle. But this does not mean that you are destined to always fail. Even if you’ve ditched our efforts for more than a hundred times – your next effort doesn’t have to end the same way. Relying on your sheer will alone can be a bit difficult, so here are some important tips that will keep you motivated:
Start With Yourself
You’ve heard this a hundred times – start with yourself. And this is very true. No weight loss program can ever be successful if you don’t start with yourself. For any weight loss endeavor to work, you need to really want to lose weight. Write down some goals (reachable ones) that you want to achieve.
Think Right
One of the worst problems that people who diet and exercise encounter is thinking that losing weight will be quick and simple. Losing weight does not come fast, and you will not have that perfectly toned body in a month’s time. When you fully understand that losing weight comes in gradually and does not happen like magic, you won’t immediately lose hope after a week’s time.
Reward Yourself
Sticking to a diet and an exercise schedule can be very difficult, and so is saying no once your craving kicks in. To avoid being all unhappy, make sure that you reward yourself, too. Just make sure that your reward is something that isn’t edible. A tangible thing – like a book, or a new silver bracelet, or something non – tangible (but no less important), like a weekend in bed or a day at the spa. You can create some mini goals, say for example at each five pound loss, and meet each goal that you reach with a reward. This way, you get to meet your goals with an experience that is pleasurable and special.
Track Your Weight Loss Progress
This is one of the best ways to keep you motivated. Regularly track down your weight and stats in a notebook or anywhere else. You can keep track of your measurements, weight or your BMI (or all of them, if you choose!). With this, you can see how much far you’ve gone, which will make it less likely for you to revert to old habits.
Remember Your Health
Most people want to lose weight for the sake of their appearance alone, and only a few of them do it for the sake of their health. Think about your health and your overall quality of life – as weight loss has such a huge impact on this.
While shopping for smaller clothes, and fitting into jeans that you never imagined you could wear is exciting, all of these initial thrills will die down after some time, but living a healthier and happier life will not. Think about it.
