What to Do When You Don’t Feel Like Exercising

You might be an energetic and active person, getting up early in the morning and exercising regularly and trying to keep fit. But certain days in your life, when you are sleeping soundly, and the alarm rings for your morning exercise, you just don’t feel like exercising that day. There is no particular reason for this.

It’s just that you don’t feel like exercising. So what do you do? Most probably shut the alarm off and go back to sleep and then feel guilty for skipping your regular exercise or push yourself out of bed and exercise feeling miserable.

Stop thinking about high intensity and calorie burning exercises which you used to do regularly. Tell yourself, “I won’t exercise for an hour today, but only about 15 minutes”. This will make you get out of bed. Just take a stroll for 15 minutes, or use the treadmill for 10-15 minutes. You can stop after that if you don’t want to continue exercising. But normally you will find yourself wanting to continue.

Starting your exercises is the problem, and once you have started, you will feel more relaxed and decide to continue. Even if you stop, it’s not a problem, because you have done at least 15 minutes workout for the day.

Given below are few things that will motivate you to exercise regularly:

Understand the benefits of exercises.

Knowing how good exercising is for your body and how it helps in weight loss will motivate you. Remember that consistent exercise helps to burn body fat and keeps you fit. Knowing how good exercise is for your health will motivate you to continue it regularly.

Set some goals.

If you decide to lose a certain amount of calories every week, you know that dieting alone is not enough. You have to exercise if you need to reduce body fat. If you miss one day of exercising, it means less fat is burnt and the excess fat is stored in your body. So if you need to reach your goal, you have to exercise consistently.

Keep records.

Note down the reasons why you need you exercise, how much weight you want to reduce, why you want to remain healthy. These small points will motivate you. You can stick a picture of a girl in bikini, with a beautiful figure. Looking at the picture will surely inspire you and motivate you to reduce weight by exercising regularly.

Make exercising fun.

You can ask a friend to join you, who will be there to pull you out of bed and motivate you everyday. If you are on the treadmill, you can listen to your favorite music or watch TV. Or if you are feeling bored with your regular exercise, why don’t you play football with your children, or do some dancing.

Exercises helps you lose weight, keeps you fit and healthy and free of diseases. So see that you don’t get off the track from your regular routine. If you don’t feel like exercising any day, just do some activity which involves movements of your body and muscles, for at least for about 10-15 minutes.
